Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup (165g) packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 tsp (10ml) vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp (5g) baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
  • 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is pale and fluffy.
  3. Stir in the eggs one at a time, then fold in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed or by hand until just combined; do not over-mix.
  6. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips by hand.
  7. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough and place them 2 inches apart on parchment-lined baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 9–11 minutes, removing them when the edges are golden but the centers still look slightly soft and wet.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on the pan for 5–10 minutes to finish setting.
