Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated white sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp flaky sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 13x18 inch rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper, ensuring the paper reaches up the sides of the pan.
  2. Whisk the melted butter, brown sugar, and white sugar in a large bowl until smooth and caramel-colored.
  3. Stir in the eggs and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  4. Fold in the flour, baking soda, and salt using a spatula, stirring only until the white streaks of flour disappear.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips last.
  6. Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan using a spatula, pushing firmly into the corners.
  7. Bake for 18–22 minutes, until the edges are a deep mahogany-colored brown while the center still looks slightly under-set.
  8. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle with flaky sea salt if using.
