Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated white sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
  • 1 1/2 cups (255g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together on medium-high speed for 2–3 minutes until the mixture looks pale and fluffy.
  2. Add the egg and vanilla extract, beating until the batter is smooth and fully incorporated.
  3. Lower the mixer speed to low and gradually add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix only until the white streaks of flour disappear.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips by hand using a spatula.
  5. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a lined baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 9–11 minutes. Remove when edges are set and lightly golden, but the centers still look slightly soft.
