Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup (200g) granulated white sugar
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp (3g) baking soda
- 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
- 1 1/2 cups (255g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together on medium-high speed for 2–3 minutes until the mixture looks pale and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, beating until the batter is smooth and fully incorporated.
- Lower the mixer speed to low and gradually add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix only until the white streaks of flour disappear.
- Fold in the chocolate chips by hand using a spatula.
- Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a lined baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 9–11 minutes. Remove when edges are set and lightly golden, but the centers still look slightly soft.
