Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups (300g) dark brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup (100g) granulated white sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 tsp (10ml) vanilla extract
  • 3 cups (375g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp (5g) baking soda
  • ½ tsp (3g) salt
  • 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, dark brown sugar, and granulated white sugar together until the mixture is pale and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed or by hand until no more streaks of white flour are visible; do not overmix.
  6. Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips using a spatula.
  7. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto parchment-lined baking sheets, leaving 2 inches of space between each cookie.
  8. Bake for 9–11 minutes, removing them when the edges are golden brown but the centers still look slightly soft.
