Ingredients:
- 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter
- ¾ cup (150g) brown sugar, packed
- ½ cup (100g) granulated white sugar
- 1 large (50g) egg
- 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
- 2 ¼ cups (280g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp (5g) baking soda
- ½ tsp (3g) sea salt
- 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup (150g) chopped walnuts
- ½ tsp (3g) flaky sea salt
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 18 x 13-inch rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
- Brown the butter: Place butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Melt and continue cooking, whisking constantly, until the butter foams and small brown specks appear at the bottom and it smells nutty. Remove from heat immediately.
- In a large bowl, stir the browned butter with brown and white sugars until smooth.
- Whisk in the egg and vanilla extract until the mixture looks glossy and combined.
- Fold in the flour, baking soda, and salt using a spatula, mixing just until no streaks of flour remain.
- Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and chopped walnuts.
- Transfer the batter to the prepared baking sheet, spreading it evenly, sprinkle with flaky sea salt, and bake for 25 minutes.
