Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 large egg yolk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp sea salt
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Whisk the melted butter and brown sugar together in a mixing bowl until the mixture looks like wet sand and no large sugar clumps remain.
- Stir in the egg yolk and vanilla extract until the batter becomes glossy and smooth.
- Sift in the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Using a spatula, fold the dry ingredients into the wet base until no streaks of white flour remain; do not over-mix.
- Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
- Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes until the edges are set and a deep amber color, but the centers still look slightly underbaked.
- Let the cookies cool on the pan for 5 minutes to allow the centers to set.
