Ingredients:

  • 115g unsalted butter, softened
  • 100g packed light brown sugar
  • 50g granulated white sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 5ml pure vanilla extract
  • 190g all-purpose flour
  • 3g baking soda
  • 1.5g salt
  • 170g semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until the mixture is pale and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until the batter is smooth and velvety.
  4. Sift in the flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir gently with a spatula or spoon just until the flour streaks disappear.
  5. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  6. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough (about 1.5 inches in diameter) onto the prepared sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 8 minutes until the edges are set and golden, but the centers still look slightly soft.
  8. Let the cookies rest on the hot baking sheet for 5 minutes to allow the centers to set, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
