Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 2 tbsp packed light brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp granulated white sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk, room temperature
  • 1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/8 tsp baking soda
  • 1 pinch fine sea salt
  • 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Stir together the melted butter, brown sugar, and white sugar in a small mixing bowl until the mixture looks like a smooth paste.
  2. Whisk in the egg yolk and vanilla extract until the batter is glossy and well-combined.
  3. Sift in the flour, baking soda, and salt. Fold the mixture gently with a spatula just until no streaks of white flour remain.
  4. Gently stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  5. Scoop the dough into 4 equal balls (about 2 tablespoons each) and place them on a lined baking sheet.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 9–11 minutes. Remove when edges are golden-brown but centers still look slightly underbaked.
