- 1/4 tsp (1.5g) sea salt
- 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet dark chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup (60g) chopped walnuts
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
- Cream the softened butter, light brown sugar, and coconut sugar together using an electric hand mixer or whisk until the mixture is pale and fluffy.
- Beat in the room temperature egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
- In a separate small bowl, whisk together the whole wheat pastry flour, baking soda, and sea salt.
- Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture using a rubber spatula until just combined.
- Stir in the dark chocolate chips and chopped walnuts until evenly distributed.
- Press the dough evenly into the prepared 9x13 pan.
- Bake for 22-25 minutes, ensuring edges are deep golden brown while the center remains slightly soft.
- Let the bars cool completely in the pan for at least 30 minutes before slicing into 16 equal squares.
