Ingredients:
- 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup (165g) packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs (100g)
- 2 tsp (10ml) pure vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp (5g) baking soda
- 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
- 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup (115g) chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions:
- Beat the softened butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar on medium high speed for 2-3 minutes until the mixture looks pale and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract until smooth.
- Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients on low speed, mixing only until no streaks of flour remain.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts using a spatula.
- Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto parchment lined baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 9-11 minutes.
- Remove from the oven when edges are golden brown, even if the centers still look soft and slightly underbaked.
- Let them cool on the pan for 5 minutes before moving them to a wire rack.
