Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, browned and slightly cooled
  • 1 cup (200g) brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated white sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp (5g) baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) sea salt
  • 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp flaky sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
  2. Whisk the browned butter with brown and white sugars until smooth, then beat in the eggs and vanilla extract one at a time until glossy.
  3. Sift in the flour, baking soda, and salt. Use a spatula to fold the mixture until just combined, then stir in the chocolate chips.
  4. Transfer the dough to the prepared pan and press it evenly across the bottom, ensuring it reaches every corner.
  5. Bake for 18-22 minutes until the edges are mahogany gold and the center is slightly under-set.
  6. Immediately sprinkle with flaky sea salt and let the pan cool completely for at least 30 minutes before lifting and slicing.
