Ingredients:

  • 115g unsalted butter, softened
  • 150g brown sugar, packed
  • 50g granulated white sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 5ml vanilla extract
  • 250g all-purpose flour
  • 5g baking soda
  • 3g salt
  • 340g semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and both sugars together until the mixture looks pale and fluffy.
  3. Stir in the egg and vanilla extract until the batter is smooth and velvety.
  4. Sift in the flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir gently with a spoon or spatula just until the white streaks of flour disappear.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  6. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a lined baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10–12 minutes until the edges are a deep golden brown but the centers still look slightly underbaked.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the cookies firm up on the hot pan.
